Collapsing Intake pipe
With many Mk2 Focus RS owners complaining with of sudden power loss a few people have looked into why this happens, the obvious sign that this was happening as the intake from the air box to the cross over pipe collapsing.
What was assumed to be the solution for this was to replace this pipe with a harder silicone pipe in order to stop the pipe collapsing under load. however this mearly prevents the pipe collapsing, it wont solve the problem.
With numerous power runs carried out with our test car on the rolling road it was noted that there is a small flexable plastic flap on the top intake to the airbox, this flap often lifts when air gets under blocking the intake to the air box, imagine sucking thru a straw and then putting your finger over the end, the straw will "collapse" this whats happening to your intake pipe.
The solution to this is to either remove the flexable flap on the slam panel, or to make sure it is secured down properly, a full picture guide showing this will be produced asap. An ideal time to fix this problem would be when you are fitting you new pipercross airfilter: http://www.mk2focusrs.co.uk/home/air-filters/pipercross-replacment-air-filter-element.html
RevoKnuckle
The new Ford Focus RS is equipped with an innovative front suspension system known as a 'RevoKnuckle', which is designed to reduce unwanted steering disturbance and torque steer, the impact of torque on steering in front-wheel driven vehicles. Torque steer occurs during hard acceleration, cornering or driving on uneven surfaces, when torque on the driven wheels exceeds grips levels. It is characterised by sudden turning force on the steering wheel and can be exacerbated by vehicles with wide tyres and limited-slip differentials.
