JAM-sport came about due to Jamie Goings natural ability to fix and tune cars. In 1994 Jamie started JAM-sport, working from a double garage, things soon progressed and JAM-sport outgrew it first home, in 1996 JAM-sport moved into its first purpose built premises. Many projects were undertaken here, including Jamie’s own ”Q Plate” Click the link for some pictures.
Again, due to Jamie’s reputation in building and maintaining fast road cars, it was time to move to bigger premises, this happened in 2000 when at the same time a Maha 2WD chassis dyno was purchased, which has proven to be one of the most valuable tools in the business. This has lead onto where we are today with more expansion work being carried out in order to fit a four wheel drive Maha chassis dyno which we hope will open us up to a lot more of the Japanese market and higher power cars due to its ability to handle 1500bhp.
Jamie has gained experience from many different areas due to working for different aspects of motorsport ranging from rally cars to circuit racers, this has helped Jamie use knowledge and experience gained in the motorsport field and put it into practice in the fast road and track day applications.
Along the way Jamie has picked up many firsts. Some of these, back in his early years, include being the first to do a proven 160mph run in a CVH powered Escort and the first to complete a ¼ mile run in 13 seconds in the same car. More recent firsts are with Fiesta ST-150s, JAM-sport were the first to complete a 2.3 conversion, the first to use throttle bodies, the first to create a 2.5 litre kit, the first with forced induction from a supercharger and the first (and second) ST-150s to do over 155mph.
Due to the changing trend of vehicle tuning it has become more and more necessary to be heavily involved in Engine Control Unit (ECU) remapping, be it standard or aftermarket, JAM-sport has taken this as an opportunity to use its current equipment to new levels. From this Jamie looked for a well priced feature packed standalone system to supply to the UK market, this is where Gotech stepped in, in 2003 Jamie fitted the first system to an Escort RS Turbo and from this day forth hasn’t looked back, with systems being fitted to M3 touring cars, DB7 engines and many other applications, its proven to do exactly what its meant to for an unbeatable price.
Working with a loyal team who all share the same interests, Jamie has been able to expand JAM-sport from its humble beginnings to where it stands now, added to this is Jamie’s ability to keep looking forward in order to supply kits to fill gaps in the market before they arrive means what ever your vehicle or its intended use, JAM-sport will more than likely be able to offer something to suit your requirements.
